In The Picture Organisation has been delivering quality video and sound workshops for over three years to groups in Southwark. Many of our participants have been successfully recruited from one or more of the following groups: black or ethnic minorities, asylum seekers, refugees, new immigrants, difficult to reach ethnic communities and lone parents. We have also provided workshops that aim within particular local areas or with specific groups such as tenants associations, parents, long-term unemployed, youth groups or parents with young children. It is our aim to provide workshops that include professional video-making skills such as: camera techniques, sound recording, lighting and computer editing.

Throughout the making of the video, concentration is placed on: teamwork, communication, confidence building and rotating between different roles in the team. We aim to teach to the needs of the participants, which includes one-to-one attention and flexible workshops that fit peoples’ requirements (such as providing a crèche facility for parents with young children). Our aim is to encourage an environment that is friendly, inclusive and easy to participate in. We pride ourselves on producing quality videos that promote positive images, educational resources and evaluative tools for the community.
